Earlier this week, Monday, August 1st, Amber Diagnostics loaded a very large MRI for a long term client based in Russia. Even though Amber sells and ships nearly fifteen MRI’s a month, this particular MRI is a GE Ovation Open MRI weighing in at 40,000 Lbs! That’s the weight of 4 average sized elephants, 6 Cadillac Escalades, or 4 large helicopters.
It took approximately four hours and lots of experienced manpower to move the MRI into a high-cube container, not to mention utilizing the use of two different specialized forklifts. The MRI was so heavy, in fact, that it caused the forklift carrying it to break the concrete underneath it.
It was one of the most insane things any of us had ever seen – wheels of a forklift moving through concrete like it was sand. (It doesn’t help that we are based in Florida and the Heat Index can reach well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.)
The MRI is currently en route to Saint Petersburg, Russia, though it will take around 30 days for it to reach its destination.
Take a look below at the pictures we took as we moved the GE Ovation Open MRI!
It was like a movie, right? It was certainly entertaining to watch, that’s for sure.
There’s always something exciting going on here at Amber, so if you’re in the market for a refurbished MRI machine, CT scanner, or any other piece of imaging equipment we have here at our facility, give us a call or contact us here.
