Mobile MRI Staffing, Training, and On-Site Support
On-site support with a mobile MRI rental covers the trailer and the scanner. It does not cover clinical labor. Amber Diagnostics, also called Amber USA, supplies the unit, transport, setup, and equipment service. Your facility supplies the MRI technologist, the schedule, MR safety screening, and a radiologist for general supervision.
The vendor owns the box. You own the people. The base rental rate does not include a technologist. Amber Diagnostics can supply staffing for a separate price, and applications training for a daily fee with two weeks of notice. On-site support covers equipment service, not patient care. Put those lines in the agreement before the trailer ships.

Does a mobile MRI rental include a technologist?
No. The base rental rate does not include a technologist. Most customers use their own technologists. Amber Diagnostics can supply technologist staffing for a separate price.
The trailer stays at your site for the rental term. Turnkey does not mean a technologist is on the pad at 7:00 AM. If the quote does not name a technologist, you own that labor. A marketing page is not the agreement.
Staff one MRI technologist for each shift you intend to run. Add a second person if patients need aid at the lift. Add a nurse if your contrast policy needs one. You supply a radiologist for general supervision. Amber Diagnostics does not supply the reads.
Many hospitals ask for an ARRT MRI credential or an equivalent. State license rules differ. Make sure that your technologist meets your rules and the state license rules before the first patient.
Amber Diagnostics does not set travel-agency terms. Ask the agency for the minimum term and the call-out rule. A three-month term is the usual MRI quote, with month-to-month extensions after the initial term.
If you want supplied staffing, make sure that the quote states the shifts, the days, the hours, and the call-out terms. Do not book a full patient day until that answer is in writing.
Trailers include a patient lift and a wheelchair-accessible entry. The GE SIGNA Voyager, the Siemens MAGNETOM Aera, and the Siemens MAGNETOM Espree are 70 cm systems on the current list. The GE Signa HDxt is a 60 cm system. Make sure that the quote names the model and the table weight limit. Availability changes.
Is applications training included with a rental?
Do not treat training as free until the quote says so. Amber Diagnostics can supply applications training for a daily fee. Give two weeks of notice. The training covers protocol development and optimization for the scanner and the software version.
That fee is separate from protocol setup. The rental service already includes system calibration and protocol setup. Applications training is console time with a trainer. Make sure that the quote splits those two tasks.
A technologist who knows one console still needs time on a different console. Protocol names and coil sets differ. The current mobile MRI list uses 1.5T systems. See the 1.5T MRI systems catalog for platform names, then ask which unit the quote assigns. Do not plan training against a model the agreement does not name.
Keep the first patient day light. Ask how many days the fee buys, and whether the trainer is at the pad or remote.
Physicist testing is usually necessary before patient scans. State rules differ. Amber Diagnostics can coordinate physicist testing and ACR accreditation support for a separate price. That support can include phantom scans and image-submission aid.
What on-site support comes with the rental?
On-site support covers the equipment and the trailer. It does not cover clinical work. Your technologist calls for a scanner fault, not for a registration task or a read.
These tasks are in the rental service description. Make sure that your agreement lists them for your unit.
- Transport to the site, and pickup at the end of the term
- Trailer positioning and leveling
- Utility connection
- System calibration and protocol setup
- PACS networking with your IT team
- Applied service verification before the first patient
- Parts and labor for the scanner and the trailer
- Preventive maintenance and repair coverage
- Quarterly preventive maintenance in service hours
- Remote diagnostics when the system supports them
- Cyber liability insurance
You still supply and pay for site preparation, electrical work, water where necessary, and local permits. Amber Diagnostics does not pour the pad or pull the permit. Site readiness is usually the critical path.
Standard service runs Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, except holidays. If the system cannot scan, hard-down coverage is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A Saturday coil question is not the same event as a magnet that cannot scan. Ask which number applies to each line. Post that number and your in-house contact at the console.
Amber Diagnostics does not publish one response time for every address. Florida and the Southeast have the strongest coverage and faster regional response times. A site outside that region must ask for the response terms for that address. Do not read a regional note as a company-wide uptime promise. Remote diagnostics work only when the quoted system supports them.
You supply contrast, linens, and cleaning supplies. Name the coils in the quote. The pad needs 480V, three-phase, 200A service. Your electrician makes that connection. If power is late, calibration waits. Training on a dead console wastes the daily fee.
You cover insurance for the equipment, your staff, and patients. Cyber liability insurance is part of the rental. The certificate names Amber Diagnostics.
Typical delivery takes two to four weeks after a signed agreement, subject to unit availability. Emergency placement is possible when a staged unit already exists. Do not promise a two-week start if the unit or the site is not ready. Setup and calibration usually take one to three days after power connection. A prepared site usually starts scans within one week after the trailer arrives. Amber Diagnostics delivers rental units throughout the continental United States from Orlando, Florida. Rentals are domestic.
How is patient scheduling and workflow handled on a mobile unit?
Scheduling stays with your facility. Your schedulers book the slots. Your staff registers the patient and does MR safety screening. Your technologist scans. Images go to your PACS, and your radiologist reads them. Amber Diagnostics keeps the unit available and connected. Amber Diagnostics does not run the clinic.
Amber Diagnostics does the PACS networking with your IT team. You supply the network connection and an IT contact. The systems are DICOM compliant and can connect to an existing PACS, RIS, and worklist. Make sure that your IT contact does a DICOM send test before the first patient. Do that test on the training day, not on the first full clinic morning.
The walk, the weather, and a lift cycle add minutes. Do not copy a fixed-room template onto day one.
The magnet sits on your property, outside the building. Your MR safety policy must cover screening, signage, and access at the trailer. Use the current ACR Manual on MR Safety for zone definitions and MR personnel levels. Amber Diagnostics does not replace that policy. Contrast reactions stay under your policy. Know which nurse covers the pad, and where the crash cart is.
What does each side supply?
If a line is blank, ask before you sign.

Staffing checklist
A name in each line beats a note that staffing is handled.
- Name the technologist for each scan shift, and name the relief technologist
- Name the person who aids patients at the lift
- Name the nurse for contrast, if your policy needs one
- Name the radiologist for general supervision
- Name the person who does MR safety screening at the pad
- Name the scheduler, the registration lead, and the IT contact
- Book applications training with two weeks of notice, if you want the daily fee
- Book physicist testing before the first patient day
- Post the service numbers at the console
- Keep the first clinic day shorter than a normal fixed-room day
What must the agreement state?
A blank answer is a staffing risk, not a small paperwork gap. Amber Diagnostics issues a formal rental agreement after the parties agree to the terms. If the quote and a web page disagree, the signed agreement controls.
- Does the rate include a technologist, and if so, which shifts and what a call-out costs?
- If not, who scans, and who covers relief?
- Is applications training in the rate or a daily fee, and what notice is needed?
- Which tasks are protocol setup, and which tasks are the training day?
- Which model, software version, and coils will arrive?
- What are the service hours, and what counts as a hard-down event?
- What response terms apply to your address, and who do you call at 6:00 AM on Saturday?
- Who pays for physicist testing and ACR support, and what date is booked?
- Who supplies the network drop, and when is the DICOM test?
- What insurance certificate does the agreement need, and who is named?
FAQ
Can Amber Diagnostics supply an MRI technologist?
Amber Diagnostics can supply a technologist for a separate price. The base rate does not include one. Ask for the shifts and the call-out terms before you rely on that staffing.
Who supplies the radiologist?
You do. Amber Diagnostics does not supply general supervision or the reads.
How much notice does applications training need?
Give two weeks of notice. Make sure that the quote states the days, the fee, and whether the trainer is at the pad.
Who handles physicist testing and ACR support?
You need physicist testing before patient scans in most cases. Amber Diagnostics can coordinate that work for a separate price. Accreditation timing can control the go-live date.
What happens if the mobile MRI cannot scan?
Hard-down coverage applies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, when the system cannot scan. Standard service has set weekday hours. Ask for the response terms for your address. This coverage is not an uptime percentage.
Who is responsible for MR safety screening on the trailer?
Your facility is responsible. Your policy must cover screening and access at the pad. Use the current ACR Manual on MR Safety.
Amber Diagnostics supplies the box and the service around the box. You supply the people, unless the quote names staffing or training as a separate line. Settle that split before the unit ships. To see the support lines in your agreement, contact Amber Diagnostics.
